Is Ventnor Beach free? Do you need beach tags in Ventnor, NJ?

Yes, you do need beach tags in Ventnor, NJ. Ventnor City Beach in New Jersey operates under a beach tag policy, which is a common practice among many beaches along the Jersey Shore. This means beach tags are required for access to the beach during the summer season, typically from Memorial Day to Labor Day (May to September). You “may” be able to visit with the beach without buying tags in early June, but it depends upon when the beach tag checkers start for the season.

Why do we need beach tags in New Jersey?

Most beaches in New Jersey require beach tags, including Ventnor. The revenue generated from beach tag sales goes towards the maintenance and upkeep of the beach, including lifeguard services, cleaning, and other amenities provided to beachgoers. Beach tags help ensure that the beach remains well-maintained and offers a pleasant experience for all visitors.

Information about Ventnor City Beach’s beach tag policy:

How to purchase beach tags: Visitors to Ventnor City Beach are required to purchase beach tags to gain entry. These tags can be obtained from designated tag booths or beach tag offices located near the beach entrances. The beach tags are typically valid for the entire summer season, but daily or weekly tags may also be available for shorter stays.

Beach tag prices

The cost of beach tags varies depending on the age group and the duration of the stay. After May 31, tags are $20 for the season. Generally, adult tags are priced differently from senior citizen tags, while children under a certain age (often 12 years old) are usually exempt from needing tags. Discounts may be offered for bulk purchases or for residents of Ventnor City.

Beach tags must be visibly worn or displayed while on the beach. This can be in the form of a wristband, tag pinned to clothing, or a tag placed on a beach chair or umbrella. Beach enforcement personnel may check for valid tags randomly, so it’s essential to have them readily accessible.

It’s worth noting that specific details regarding pricing, exemptions, and regulations may vary from year to year, so it’s advisable to check the official Ventnor City website or contact the local authorities for the most up-to-date information regarding the beach tag policy.

By following the rules of Ventnor City Beach’s beach tag policy, visitors can enjoy the beautiful shoreline and contribute to the preservation of this coastal gem.

Safety is also a priority on the Ventnor City beach and boardwalk. Well-placed lifeguard stations ensure that beachgoers can enjoy the water with peace of mind, while security personnel patrol the area, ensuring a comfortable and secure environment for all visitors.
